 Hon. Prince Wellington Oriade Adebawo: A Symbol of Selfless Service, Emergency Leadership, and Grassroots Impact in Ondo State

Honourable Prince Wellington Oriade Adebawo has emerged as one of Ondo State’s most visible and proactive public servants, distinguished by his swift emergency response, people-centered leadership, and unwavering commitment to grassroots safety and welfare.

Serving as Special Assistant to the Governor on Emergency Response under Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, Prince Adebawo has consistently demonstrated hands-on leadership during crises, often arriving at emergency scenes ahead of formal response teams. His approach has earned him respect among security agencies, community leaders, and residents across the state.


In his capacity, Prince Adebawo plays a critical role in coordinating rescue and relief operations, particularly during road traffic accidents and environmental emergencies. 


On several occasions, he has personally overseen victim evacuations, assessed accident scenes, and ensured injured persons received urgent medical attention.


One notable incident occurred in December 2024 along the Owo–Ikare-Akoko Road, where a tragic collision between two buses resulted in a fire outbreak and multiple fatalities. Prince Adebawo visited the scene promptly, supervised emergency efforts, and used the opportunity to raise public awareness about the dangers of using substandard vehicle tyres. 


He urged motorists to prioritize vehicle maintenance, especially during festive and high-traffic periods.


Similarly, in September 2025, following a fatal accident along the Akure–Ondo Highway that claimed the lives of two students of the Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji, Prince Adebawo arrived swiftly at the scene. He commiserated with the bereaved families and strongly condemned reckless driving, describing it as a recurring and preventable cause of road tragedies in the state.

His emergency leadership extends beyond road accidents. 


In July 2025, Prince Adebawo led a state government delegation to assess a landslide along the Iwaro–Oke-Oka Road in Akoko South-West Local Government Area. During the visit, he engaged directly with affected residents, evaluated the extent of damage, and assured communities of the government’s commitment to both immediate relief and long-term mitigation measures.


Another tragic incident on the Akure–Owo Expressway in October 2025, which resulted in multiple casualties, again saw Prince Adebawo supervising rescue operations on-site. He reiterated the importance of strict adherence to traffic regulations and called for collective responsibility in preventing avoidable loss of lives.


Beyond emergency interventions, Prince Adebawo’s work reflects a broader dedication to grassroots development and public safety advocacy. He emphasizes prevention through continuous public sensitization, collaboration with security and emergency agencies, and direct engagement with communities across Ondo State—both rural and urban.


Colleagues and community stakeholders frequently describe him as a symbol of selfless service, noting his willingness to act without seeking publicity. His leadership style aligns with the Aiyedatiwa administration’s broader agenda of strengthening security, emergency preparedness, and citizen-centered governance.
