AKINGBASO REJECTS LINKS TO IDANRE VIOLENCE, DESCRIBES CLAIMS AS POLITICALLY MOTIVATED
Hon. Festus Olanrewaju Akingbaso, popularly known as Fessywest, has dismissed allegations linking him to the recent violent incident in Idanre, describing the claims as false, unfounded, and politically driven.
In an official response made available to Opima RealNews, the lawmaker denied assertions circulating in some quarters that he sponsored the unrest reportedly involving members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW). According to the statement, the clash was said to have occurred among individuals within the transport union, raising questions about how his name became associated with the matter.
The statement emphasized that Hon. Akingbaso is not a member of the NURTW and does not interfere in the union’s internal affairs. It described attempts to link him to the incident as political mischief aimed at tarnishing his reputation.
The response further noted that the event in question was reportedly connected to activities surrounding an All Progressives Congress (APC) Congress, not a union election. It questioned why individuals allegedly identified as union members were present in a political environment where they had no official role and called for clarity regarding who authorized their actions.
Addressing reports of casualties, the statement maintained that there has been no verified confirmation that any innocent bystander lost their life in the incident. It asserted that those reportedly involved were members within the same union dispute and cautioned against drawing conclusions without credible evidence.
Hon. Akingbaso’s camp reiterated his commitment to peaceful political engagement, community development, and the safety of residents in Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency. It stressed that he has no history of sponsoring violence and urged individuals making accusations to provide verifiable proof rather than spreading unsubstantiated claims.
The statement concluded by calling on residents to prioritize peace, unity, and responsible political conduct, warning against the dangers of politically motivated allegations capable of undermining public trust and stability.
