TESCOM COMMITS TO TECHNOLOGY-DRIVEN TEACHER TRAINING IN LAGOS
The Lagos State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) has reaffirmed its dedication to equipping teachers across the state with cutting-edge skills aimed at enhancing classroom innovation and fostering educational excellence.
TESCOM Chairman, Victoria Peregrino, told the News Agency of Nigeria that transforming teachers remains central to securing Lagos State’s educational future and driving socio-economic progress. She emphasised that deliberate efforts are underway to retool teachers with digital competence, learner-centred methodologies, and innovative pedagogical practices suitable for 21st-century learning environments.
“At TESCOM, we are deliberately retooling our teachers with digital competence, innovative pedagogy, and learner-centred methodologies essential for 21st-century education,” Peregrino said. She noted that the commission had established structured capacity-building programs focusing on technology integration, competency-based instruction, adaptive teaching models, and continuous professional development across secondary schools statewide.
Digital transformation forms a core part of TESCOM’s strategy, with teachers undergoing practical training on virtual learning platforms, smart assessment systems, data analytics, and technology-enabled classroom management tools.
Peregrino also highlighted that the commission is driving a pedagogical shift towards critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, ethical leadership, and resilience to ensure learners are prepared for disruptions and are globally competitive. Strategic partnerships with private sector leaders and development organizations are supporting mentorship pipelines, curriculum innovation aligned with industry needs, and sustainable teacher upskilling initiatives.
“We are not pursuing reform for rhetoric, but for measurable impact. Deliberate investment in teachers today will secure the state’s future-ready workforce tomorrow,” she affirmed.
TESCOM’s initiative reflects Lagos State’s commitment to modernising education, preparing students and educators for a future shaped by digital learning, innovation, and global competitiveness.
