AFUED REGISTRAR, SDE DIRECTOR JOIN DHDEI TO HONOUR STUDENT AT SKILLS CERTIFICATION CEREMONY

In a ceremony highlighting the importance of vocational skills and youth empowerment, the Dakiz Human Development and Empowerment Initiative (DHDEI) held a beneficiary certification event in honour of Miss Oladele Justinah, a 200-level student of Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED), Ondo State.

Miss Oladele successfully completed professional training in hairdressing and hair installation at no cost under the DHDEI empowerment programme. The initiative is designed to equip young Nigerians with practical vocational and entrepreneurial skills alongside their formal academic pursuits, enhancing their capacity for self-reliance and income generation.

Her training was undertaken at Presh Empire under the mentorship of Akinkunowo Precious OreOfe, whose guidance and professional support were acknowledged as instrumental to the beneficiary’s successful completion of the programme.

The event attracted university representatives, family members, fellow beneficiaries, and supporters of the initiative. The Registrar of AFUED, Olukemi Fakorede, was represented by Abiola Olaitan, who reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to promoting holistic student development beyond classroom learning.

Also in attendance was Izuagie Folasade, Deputy Director at the Directorate of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (SDE), who emphasized the growing importance of entrepreneurship and practical skills acquisition for students prior to graduation.

Family members of the celebrant, including Oladele Sogo and Omotayo Folasade, joined in marking the milestone. Other DHDEI beneficiaries present at the ceremony included Ologun Gbemileke, Azeez Aishat, and Jayeola Elizabeth, reflecting the initiative’s expanding network of empowered youths.

Speaking at the event, Akingbade Toluwa-Jolomi commended Miss Oladele for her dedication and consistency throughout the programme. He also appreciated Akinkunowo Precious OreOfe for her partnership and mentorship, describing the collaboration as a model for future skill development initiatives. He further thanked guests for attending, noting that their presence reinforced collective support for youth empowerment and sustainable development.

The certification ceremony underscores the growing collaboration between educational institutions and community-based organisations to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical skill acquisition in Nigeria.
