NIGERIA POWER MINISTER ADELABU RESIGNS

Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has formally resigned from his position in the Federal Executive Council.

According to information obtained from an official letter dated March 26, 2026, and addressed to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Adelabu cited his intention to pursue his political ambition ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in Oyo State as the reason for his resignation.

In the letter, the former minister expressed appreciation to the President for the opportunity to serve in his administration, noting that his time in office provided him with the platform to contribute to reforms and initiatives within Nigeria’s power sector.

Adelabu, a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, has been a prominent political figure in Oyo State and is widely expected to contest in the state’s next gubernatorial race.

As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official statement from the Presidency regarding the acceptance of his resignation or the appointment of a successor.
