AMOTEKUN FOILS KIDNAP ATTEMPTS, RESCUES FIVE IN OVERNIGHT OPERATIONS IN ONDO
Operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun Corps, have successfully rescued five individuals from suspected kidnappers during coordinated overnight operations in Akure South Local Government Area.
The Corps Commander, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, confirmed the development, stating that the operations were carried out following reported abduction incidents in parts of the state capital.
According to him, a 45-year-old man and his 15-year-old son were abducted at Pelebe, located on the outskirts of Oda Road in Akure, between 7:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
Adeleye disclosed that the victims were later rescued around 1:00 a.m. by the Amotekun Rapid Response Squad after a confrontation with the kidnappers.
In a related development, three health workers who had earlier been abducted were also freed at about 4:30 a.m. during another operation. The rescued individuals are currently receiving medical attention at an undisclosed health facility.
The Amotekun commander reassured residents of the state government’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property. He emphasized that security agencies remain vigilant and proactive in tackling criminal activities across the state.
He further urged members of the public to support security efforts by providing timely and credible information that could aid in preventing and responding to security threats.
Authorities have not yet disclosed details regarding arrests or the identities of the suspects involved in the incidents.
