APC RE-ELECTS YILWATDA AS NATIONAL CHAIRMAN, BASIRU EMERGES SECRETARY AT NATIONAL CONVENTION
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has returned Professor Nentawe Yilwatda as its National Chairman, while Surajudeen Basiru was elected as the party’s National Secretary during its 4th Elective National Convention held in Abuja.
The announcement was made late Friday at the Eagle Square venue by the Convention Election Committee, with both officials emerging through a consensus arrangement alongside other members of the party’s National Working Committee.
The high-profile political gathering attracted key figures within the ruling party, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas.
The convention was held under the theme, “Unity in Progress: Consolidating the Renewed Hope Agenda,” reflecting the party’s emphasis on internal cohesion and alignment with the current administration’s policy direction.
The event was coordinated by a planning committee chaired by former Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, with former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim, serving as a key member of the organising team.
Party stakeholders at the convention reiterated calls for unity and strengthened collaboration ahead of future electoral cycles, particularly as preparations gradually build toward the 2027 general elections.
More details on the composition of the newly elected party leadership and policy direction are expected to be released in subsequent briefings by the APC.
