ONDO POLICE NAB SUSPECTED ROBBERY GANG MEMBERS, RECOVER FIREARM AND AMMUNITION IN IMAFON OPERATION

The Ondo State Police Command has announced the arrest of two suspected members of a robbery syndicate, alongside the recovery of a firearm, ammunition, and other items during an intelligence-led operation in the Igushi-Imafon axis of the state.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the operation was carried out on March 22, 2026, following credible intelligence received by the Command.

The suspects, identified as Busayo Ajowele, 31, and Ajayi Ebenezer, 33, were apprehended during the targeted raid. A search conducted at the location led to the recovery of a locally made single-barrel rifle and two live cartridges. Police also recovered 29 pieces of floor tiles, which are believed to be connected to ongoing investigations.

Preliminary findings indicate that the suspects allegedly fired gunshots into the air to create panic among residents before carrying out criminal activities in the area.

The Command confirmed that the suspects are currently in custody and assisting with ongoing investigations aimed at uncovering possible links to other criminal networks. They are expected to be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Adebowale Lawal, commended the operatives for the successful operation, describing it as a reflection of the Command’s commitment to intelligence-driven and community-focused policing.

He reiterated the Command’s resolve to tackle criminal activities and ensure the safety of residents across Ondo State.

The Commissioner also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and support law enforcement agencies by providing timely and credible information that could aid security operations.
