The Executive Chairman of Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government Area in Ondo State, Hon. Adebare Adeboye, has extended greetings to Christians within the council area and across the state as they commemorate Palm Sunday.
In a statement issued through his Special Assistant on Media, Otunba Oluwapelumi Akinsiku, the chairman described Palm Sunday as a significant moment in the Christian calendar, marking the triumphant entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem—an event widely associated with humility, peace, and spiritual victory.
He noted that the symbolic waving of palm branches represents not only celebration but also serves as a reminder of the enduring values of peace, love, and unity demonstrated by Jesus Christ.
Hon. Adeboye urged Christian faithful to reflect on the meaning of the occasion by embodying Christ-like virtues in their daily lives. He encouraged residents to promote peaceful coexistence, strengthen bonds of love, and work collectively towards the development of their communities.
The chairman further emphasized that the palm branch signifies victory, calmness, and reconciliation, calling on residents of Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo to resolve differences through dialogue and mutual understanding in order to sustain communal harmony.
He added that the continued progress of the local government depends largely on unity, cooperation, and a shared commitment to development goals.
Hon. Adeboye expressed optimism that the Palm Sunday celebration would inspire renewed faith and hope among citizens, while fostering a future defined by peace, stability, and prosperity for the local government, Ondo State, and Nigeria at large.
