BISHOP OYEDEPO URGES MEMBERS TO GIVE KIDNAPPERS HIS PHONE NUMBER, CLAIMS DIVINE INTERVENTION

The Founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, has advised members of his congregation to provide his phone number to kidnappers in the event they are abducted, stating that he possesses the spiritual authority to secure their release.

The cleric made the remarks during a church service held at the church’s headquarters, Canaanland, in Ota, Ogun State. A video clip of the sermon has since circulated widely on social media, drawing public attention.

In the viral footage, Oyedepo is heard instructing members, “If anybody picks you, give them my number.” He supported his statement with testimonies he described as instances of divine intervention involving kidnapped members of the church.

According to him, in one case, a church pastor was abducted and allowed to hand over a phone to him. Oyedepo claimed he issued a warning to the alleged kidnappers, stating that failure to release the victim within 24 hours would result in dire consequences. He added that the pastor was subsequently freed.

He also recounted another incident involving a female church member who was reportedly abducted. The cleric said the woman declared her release by a specific time based on faith. He claimed that, without direct contact from him, the captors allegedly began harming themselves before eventually letting her go.

Oyedepo further encouraged members to believe in what he described as their spiritual empowerment, stating that they possess the ability to overcome threats through faith.

The sermon, shared under the hashtag #SupersonicSunday on the church’s official social media platforms, is believed to have been delivered shortly before the clip began trending online.

The statements have since generated mixed reactions across social media platforms, with some viewers expressing support for the message of faith, while others raised concerns over the practical implications of such advice amid Nigeria’s ongoing security challenges, particularly incidents of kidnapping.

Authorities have not issued any official response regarding the remarks as of the time of filing this report.
