ILE-OLUJI-BORN SCHOLAR, OLUYEMI OJO DARAMOLA, AMONG 36 NEW PROFESSORS APPOINTED BY FUTA
The Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) has elevated 36 distinguished academics to the rank of Professor, with Dr. Oluyemi Ojo Daramola, an illustrious son of Ile-Oluji in Ondo State, emerging as one of the newly appointed professors.
The announcement was made during a special recognition ceremony organized by the university to honour the newly promoted scholars for their contributions to academic excellence, research, mentorship, and national development.
Vice-Chancellor of FUTA, Professor Adenike Oladiji, while addressing the honourees, described the professorial rank as the highest academic attainment in the university system. She urged the newly appointed professors to continue expanding their intellectual capacity and uphold the dignity associated with the position.
Professor Oladiji noted that professors play critical roles not only in teaching and research but also in shaping societal development and institutional growth. According to her, the advancement of any nation depends largely on the quality of its educational system and the commitment of scholars to innovation and knowledge development.
Among the newly promoted academics is Professor Oluyemi Ojo Daramola of the School of Infrastructure, Mineral Resources and Manufacturing Engineering (SIMME/MME), whose elevation has been celebrated by many as a proud moment for Ile-Oluji community and Ondo State at large.
The Vice-Chancellor further encouraged the new professors to remain committed to mentorship, leadership, and service to humanity while contributing meaningfully to the progress of the university and society.
In his remarks, the Registrar of the institution, Mr. Charles Adeleye, described the attainment of professorship as a reward for years of dedication, resilience, and impactful scholarship. He added that the university’s recognition ceremony has become an enduring tradition aimed at celebrating excellence and inspiring younger academics.
Speaking on behalf of the newly appointed professors, Professor Bukola Adetola expressed appreciation to the university management, colleagues, and family members for their support and encouragement over the years. She assured that the honourees would continue to contribute positively to the growth and advancement of FUTA.
The university listed the 36 newly appointed professors across various schools and departments, including engineering, sciences, environmental technology, agriculture, management sciences, and health sciences.
The recognition of Professor Oluyemi Ojo Daramola has particularly drawn commendations from members of the Ile-Oluji community, who described the achievement as a source of pride and inspiration for younger generations aspiring to academic excellence.
