ATIKU EMERGES ADC PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE AFTER LANDSLIDE VICTORY
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has officially secured the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) following the conclusion of the party’s primary election.
According to the final results announced by the party, Atiku defeated former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, and businessman Hayatudeen to emerge as the ADC presidential candidate ahead of the next general election.
The results released showed that Atiku polled a total of 1,855,787 votes to record a decisive victory in the contest.
Amaechi came second with 509,397 votes, while Hayatudeen secured 180,903 votes.
The party also disclosed that a total of 2,546,457 votes were cast during the election exercise, while the total registered membership eligible for the poll stood at 3,113,599.
Political observers describe the outcome as a major development in Nigeria’s political landscape as preparations gradually intensify ahead of the forthcoming presidential election.
The ADC leadership has yet to release a detailed statement following the declaration of the results, but party supporters across several states have begun celebrating Atiku’s emergence as the party’s standard bearer.
Atiku, who previously served as Nigeria’s Vice President, is expected to unveil his campaign strategy and policy direction in the coming weeks as political activities gather momentum nationwide.
