MATO CRUSHES INCUMBENT ADEFIRANYE, CLINCHES APC REPS TICKET WITH LANDSLIDE VICTORY


Hon. Mathew Oye Oyerinmade, popularly known as MATO, has emerged as the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives Primary Election for Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo and Odigbo Federal Constituency in Ondo State, defeating incumbent lawmaker, Hon. Festus Adefiranye, by a wide margin.

The APC primary election, held on Saturday across the federal constituency, recorded a large turnout of party delegates and supporters, with security agencies and party officials monitoring the exercise.

At the end of the collation process, Hon. Mathew Oye Oyerinmade secured an overwhelming 12,744 votes to emerge victorious in the keenly contested primary election. His closest rival and incumbent member representing the constituency at the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Festus Adefiranye, polled 1,944 votes, while other aspirants recorded lower figures.

The result reflected a decisive victory for Oyerinmade, whose performance across the wards gave him a commanding lead throughout the exercise.

Following the announcement of the results, the APC leadership in the federal constituency officially declared Hon. Mathew Oye Oyerinmade as the party’s candidate for the January 2027 general election for the position of Member, Federal House of Representatives.

Party leaders and supporters described the outcome as a strong statement ahead of the 2027 elections, noting that the exercise demonstrated the confidence reposed in Oyerinmade by party members across Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo and Odigbo Federal Constituency.

Speaking after his emergence, Hon. Oyerinmade appreciated party delegates, leaders, and supporters for their backing and trust. He pledged to justify the confidence placed in him through quality representation and commitment to the development of the constituency.

The APC primary outcome is expected to reshape the political landscape within the constituency as political activities ahead of the 2027 general election continue to gather momentum.
