HUNDREDS OF SIMIFAJ4REP SUPPORTERS PROTEST IN ILE-OLUJI OVER APC 2027 HOUSE OF REPS CANDIDATE CONTROVERSY
Hundreds of supporters under the SimiFaj4Rep Movement on Tuesday staged a peaceful protest in Ile-Oluji, the headquarters of Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, expressing dissatisfaction over recent developments surrounding the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate selection process ahead of the 2027 general election.
The protesters, who turned out in large numbers, were supporters of Hon. Mrs. Simisola Fajemirokun-Ajayi, one of the aspirants who participated in the APC primary election for the House of Representatives seat representing Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo and Odigbo Federal Constituency.
The peaceful demonstration drew hundreds of party loyalists, youths, women, and community residents who marched through major parts of Ile-Oluji carrying placards with inscriptions including “Simi Is Our Candidate,” “Our Votes, Our Voices,” “Return Our Mandate,” and “Let Democracy Prevail,” among others.
The protesters said their demonstration was aimed at demanding that the outcome of the party’s primary election should reflect what they described as the mandate freely given by party members during the internal electoral process.
Speaking during the protest, the Director of SimiFaj4Rep in Ile-Oluji, Mr. Bisi Bolarinde, stated that party members had already made their choice through the APC primary election and insisted that the decision reached through the democratic process should be respected.
According to him, democracy remains the foundation of political representation, adding that all stakeholders involved in the process should ensure fairness and transparency in handling issues arising from the primary election.
He also appealed to the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC to carefully review the concerns being raised and ensure that justice prevails in line with the wishes of party members.
Another supporter who spoke during the demonstration, Mrs. Adeyemi Grace, highlighted what she described as the longstanding contributions of the Fajemirokun family to the development of Ile-Oluji community over the years.
She noted that the family had played important roles in community development and that many residents still remember their contributions positively.
Mrs. Grace further commended Hon. Simisola Fajemirokun-Ajayi for her humanitarian initiatives, particularly in areas of empowerment programs and human capacity development, which she said have impacted women and several residents across different communities.
The protesters maintained that the demonstration remained peaceful and was organized to defend democratic principles within the party, insisting that the outcome of the APC primary election should reflect the choice made by party members as preparations continue ahead of the 2027 general election.
