TINUBU APPOINTS NEW BCDA DG, NAMES OBAHIAGBON AND UMEOJI FOR KEY POWER SECTOR ROLES

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a fresh round of federal appointments, naming Abdulrazak Sa’ad Namdas as the new Director General of the Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA) while appointing Patrick Obahiagbon and Chukwuma Umeoji to executive positions at the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC).

The appointments were announced in an official statement issued on Friday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

According to the statement, Abdulrazak Namdas takes over leadership of the Border Communities Development Agency following the resignation of Dr Dakorinama Alabo George, who stepped down to pursue an elective political position in his home state.

Namdas is a former member of the House of Representatives, where he represented Ganye/Jada/Mayo Belwa/Toungo Federal Constituency of Adamawa State.

He previously served as spokesperson of the 8th House of Representatives and was also among aspirants in the recently concluded governorship primary election in Adamawa State.

Beyond politics, Namdas has built a career in journalism and public relations, having served as Chief Press Secretary to former Adamawa State Governor Boni Haruna.

In a separate appointment, President Tinubu named former lawmaker Patrick Obahiagbon as Executive Director, Strategy and Commercial at the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC).

Obahiagbon replaces Engineer Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, who resigned from the role to pursue political ambitions in his home state.

Widely known for his legislative background, Obahiagbon previously served in both the Edo State House of Assembly and the National Assembly, where he became one of Nigeria’s most recognizable political figures.

The President also reappointed Chukwuma Umeoji as Executive Director, Corporate Services of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company.

Umeoji, a former member of the House of Representatives representing Aguata Federal Constituency of Anambra State during the 9th National Assembly, had earlier resigned from the same position to pursue political ambitions in Anambra State.

The presidency confirmed that all appointments take immediate effect.

The latest appointments are seen as part of ongoing efforts by the Federal Government to strengthen leadership across strategic institutions responsible for border development and critical power infrastructure management.

Political observers say the appointments reflect continued efforts by the administration to reposition key government agencies by bringing experienced political and administrative figures into strategic national roles.
