TERRORISM HAS REACHED MY DOORSTEP — PASTOR ADEBOYE CALLS FOR STRONGER GLOBAL SUPPORT AGAINST INSECURITY

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has raised concerns over Nigeria’s worsening security situation, stating that terrorism is no longer a distant threat but has become a direct reality affecting communities across the country.

Pastor Adeboye made the remarks during the inaugural U.S.-Nigeria Faith Heroes Award Gala held in Washington, D.C., United States, where he called for stronger international cooperation in tackling terrorism and violent extremism in Nigeria.

Addressing an audience that included religious leaders, U.S. policymakers, Nigerian diplomats, human rights advocates, and members of both Nigerian and American communities, the respected cleric emphasized that the security challenge facing Nigeria has grown beyond the capacity of local institutions to manage independently.

According to him, insecurity has expanded beyond regions traditionally affected by insurgency, turning into a national issue that requires urgent and coordinated international intervention.

“Terrorism is now at my doorstep,” Adeboye said while stressing the need for Nigeria’s international partners to intensify efforts in supporting the country’s ongoing battle against extremist violence.

The RCCG leader had earlier presided over the church’s Annual Convention in America, held in Dallas, Texas, before attending the Washington event.

During his address, Pastor Adeboye specifically appealed to the United States government and its Western allies to strengthen strategic partnerships with Nigeria, arguing that the scale of terrorism and violent attacks across parts of the country has become increasingly complex.

The event was organized by Save Nigeria Group USA in collaboration with the U.S.-Nigeria Civil Society Coalition and held at the Hilton Garden Inn Washington DC/U.S. Capitol.

This year’s gathering was themed “Thank You, America. Please Do More,” reflecting calls for deeper diplomatic, security, and humanitarian cooperation between both nations.

Security experts have repeatedly highlighted the importance of international intelligence sharing, stronger border security measures, and collaborative counter-terrorism strategies as Nigeria continues efforts to address insurgency, banditry, and other forms of violent crime affecting communities nationwide.

Pastor Adeboye’s comments add to growing calls from stakeholders urging stronger global partnerships to help confront security challenges threatening stability in Africa’s most populous nation.
