AKINGBASO FACILITATES FEDERAL FIRE SERVICE STATION IN IGBARA-OKE, BOOSTS EMERGENCY RESPONSE IN ONDO

A major boost to emergency response and public safety has come to Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State following the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a Federal Fire Service (FFS) Station in Igbara-Oke.

The project, located at the Shasha Open Space in Igbara-Oke, was facilitated by the Member representing Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Festus Olarewaju Akingbaso (Fessywest), as part of his ongoing Thank You and Oversight Tour across the constituency.

The ceremony attracted traditional rulers, government officials, security agencies, community leaders and residents, who described the project as a significant step towards strengthening emergency services and protecting lives and property in the area.

Speaking on behalf of the State Controller of the Federal Fire Service, Zone K, Ondo State Command, the Command's Human Resources Management Officer, CSF Obagunwa Olu Ignatius, said the new fire station would improve operational efficiency and reduce emergency response time to fire outbreaks and other related incidents within Ifedore and neighbouring communities.

He noted that the Federal Fire Service has continued to expand its presence in Ondo State, growing from operating a single fire engine in Akure in 2020 to maintaining five fire engines and four operational stations across Akoko North East, Idanre, Akure and the newly established station in Ifedore.

The Federal Fire Service commended Hon. Akingbaso for facilitating the project, describing the initiative as a valuable investment in public safety and community development.

The Olowa of Igbara-Oke, His Royal Majesty Oba (Dr.) Francis Adefarakanmi Agbede, Ilufemiloye, Ogidi III, joined other dignitaries in witnessing the groundbreaking ceremony and offered royal blessings for the successful execution of the project.

The agency also acknowledged the support of the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service, CGF Samuel Adeyemi Olumode, and the Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for their contributions towards strengthening fire safety infrastructure across the state.

As construction begins, the Federal Fire Service urged members of the host community to protect the facility and collaborate with firefighters to ensure the station serves its purpose of safeguarding lives, property and investments.

Residents were also reminded to report fire emergencies through the Federal Fire Service emergency lines: Command Headquarters – 08133006400, Ikare Area Command – 08130891936, and Idanre Area Command – 07087117716.
