GOV AIYEDATIWA, ONDO APC ELDERS BEGIN RECONCILIATION DRIVE AHEAD OF 2027 POLLS

The Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, on Wednesday hosted members of the Governor's Advisory Council (GAC) and other leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Government House in Akure, where party leaders emphasized reconciliation, unity, and preparations for the 2027 general elections.

The meeting, held at the Banquet Hall following the party's recent primary elections, focused on strengthening internal cohesion, resolving post-primary grievances, and preserving the unity and progressive ideals of the APC in Ondo State.

During the meeting, party leaders unanimously affirmed Governor Aiyedatiwa as the leader of the APC in Ondo State and pledged their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election bid in the 2027 presidential election.

In his opening remarks, Chairman of the Governor's Advisory Council, Chief Pius Akinyelure, described the gathering as the council's first meeting since the primaries, noting that it demonstrated the commitment of party leaders to resolving differences and safeguarding the future of the APC in the state.

He recalled that the council last met on August 9, 2025, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to reconvene and deliberate on issues affecting the development of Ondo State and the progress of the ruling party.

Akinyelure stated that while political contests often produce disagreements, such differences are normal in democratic processes and should be addressed through dialogue, mutual respect, sacrifice, and a shared commitment to the party's success.

He urged party leaders and government officials to work together toward improving the APC's electoral performance in the 2027 general elections, with the goal of surpassing the state's performance in the 2023 presidential election, when Ondo ranked among the highest-performing states for President Tinubu.

The GAC chairman also commended Governor Aiyedatiwa's administration and assured him of the council's continued support while calling on members to avoid division and promote unity.

Speaking with journalists after the meeting, Chief Akinyelure reiterated that party leaders had unanimously endorsed Governor Aiyedatiwa as the APC leader in Ondo State and expressed confidence that ongoing efforts would further strengthen the party.

Former Senator representing Ondo North Senatorial District, Senator Ajayi Boroffice, said the meeting resolved to rally support behind Governor Aiyedatiwa and encourage all party members to recognize his leadership within the APC in the state.

Boroffice described the governor as the symbol of the APC in Ondo State and disclosed that party leaders also agreed to intensify efforts toward President Tinubu's re-election in 2027. He added that the leaders would engage the APC national leadership to communicate the resolutions reached at the meeting.

Also speaking, APC South-West Vice Chairman, Hon. Isaac Kekemeke, said more than 30 party leaders participated in the meeting, reaffirming their commitment to the party's unity and to President Tinubu's re-election campaign.

According to him, the meeting also resolved that APC support groups in Ondo State should operate under the leadership of Governor Aiyedatiwa while urging the party's national leadership to continue engaging key stakeholders on issues concerning the state.
