ONDO APC COUNCILLORS APPEAL TO PRESIDENT TINUBU OVER NWC REVIEW OF PRIMARY ELECTION RESULTS
The Forum of All Progressives Congress (APC) Councillors in Ondo State has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene in the dispute arising from the decision of the party's National Working Committee (NWC) Appeal Committee, which reviewed the outcomes of the 2026 National and State Assembly primary elections in parts of the state.
Addressing journalists during a press conference in Akure on Monday, the Chairman of the Ondo State APC Councillors Forum, Rt. Hon. Adeniyi Adetoye, said the President's intervention would help strengthen confidence among party members, promote reconciliation, and preserve unity within the APC.
According to Adetoye, the primary elections conducted between May 16 and May 23, 2026, were credible and reflected the wishes of party members across the affected constituencies.
He maintained that the councillors remained committed to the All Progressives Congress and urged party members to remain calm, peaceful and law-abiding while the party concludes its internal processes.
Adetoye clarified that the gathering was not a protest but a respectful appeal to the leadership of the APC to carefully consider the concerns raised by stakeholders.
"Our mission is simply to appeal to the National Working Committee to uphold the integrity of the democratic process," he said.
The forum stated that its position was informed by a desire to protect the credibility of the party's internal electoral process and sustain the confidence of members who participated in the primaries.
Speaking on behalf of the councillors, Adetoye urged the party leadership to respect the outcome of the primary elections conducted in Ondo State.
"On behalf of the people we represent, we respectfully appeal for the outcome of the primary elections conducted in Ondo State to be respected. We stand firmly by the elections held in the state and the results they produced. That remains our position," he stated.
The councillors also commended Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for his leadership and efforts toward promoting peace, unity and stability within both the state and the All Progressives Congress.
The appeal comes amid ongoing discussions within the APC following the decisions of the party's National Working Committee on appeals arising from the 2026 primary elections in Ondo State.
