ADC WARNS AGAINST ‘MY CANDIDATE ONLY’ MENTALITY AHEAD OF 2027 POLLS
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has urged its supporters to avoid the “must-be-my-candidate” mindset, warning that such rigid loyalty could undermine the party’s prospects in the 2027 general election.
The caution came from the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, during the virtual ADC Coalition Hours on Saturday. Abdullahi stressed that unity among supporters is critical for strengthening the party’s presidential bid and ensuring collective success.
“Rigid allegiance to individual aspirants can be divisive. We must rally behind all aspirants collectively in the interest of party unity,” Abdullahi said.
He further revealed that he had engaged key coalition stakeholders to reinforce the message of focus, commitment, and unity. “I spent time meeting with His Excellencies Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rotimi Amaechi, who have all shown interest in vying for our party’s presidential ticket, as well as leaders like Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, to ensure our party remains united and focused,” Abdullahi explained.
He concluded, “The general consensus is clear: we have a job to do to make this country a better place. Our leaders understand the task ahead, and each of them is committed to ensuring that we win this election.”
