LAGOS LAWMAKER DEFECTS FROM LABOUR PARTY TO ADC

A member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mrs. Foluke Stella Osafile, has officially defected from the Labour Party (LP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Osafile, who represents Amuwo-Odofin Constituency-01, confirmed the development on Saturday, putting an end to speculations surrounding her political future.

“Yes, it is true. I have defected to the ADC,” the lawmaker said while speaking with journalists.

Mrs. Osafile is a first-time legislator and currently serves as the Chairman of the House Committee on Wealth Creation in the Lagos State House of Assembly.

According to her, the decision to leave the Labour Party was taken after careful consideration and in the best interest of her constituents. She stated that the move would enable her to serve the people of Amuwo-Odofin more effectively and contribute meaningfully to governance and development in the state.

The lawmaker assured her constituents that her defection would not affect her commitment to their welfare, stressing that her primary focus remains quality representation, economic empowerment and improved living conditions for residents of the constituency.

Osafile was elected into the Lagos State House of Assembly in 2023 on the platform of the Labour Party. Her election was initially challenged but was later upheld by the Court of Appeal, which affirmed her mandate.

She is expected to formally announce her defection on the floor of the House during plenary in the coming days.
