WIKE TO RESIGN AS PROTESTERS STORM APC NATIONAL SECRETARIAT

Protesters on Friday, January 23, gathered at the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja, calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to sack the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

The demonstrators, who arrived at the party headquarters in the early hours of the day, carried placards bearing various inscriptions such as “Stop disrespecting APC members” and “President Tinubu, sack Wike now.” They accused the former Rivers State governor of actions and comments they described as undermining the ruling party and its members.

Chanting solidarity songs and slogans, the protesters urged the APC leadership to intervene, warning that continued silence could deepen internal discontent within the party. Some of the demonstrators claimed they were loyal party members who felt increasingly sidelined and disrespected.

Security personnel were deployed around the APC secretariat to maintain order, while the protest remained largely peaceful as of the time of filing this report.

Neither the APC national leadership nor the FCT minister had issued an official response to the protest at press time.

The development comes amid ongoing political tensions and debates over party loyalty and governance style within the ruling party, as the Tinubu administration continues to navigate internal and national challenges.
