EX-OYO PARK BOSS AUXILIARY'S TRIAL POSTPONED DUE TO SICKNESS
UPDATE: EX-OYO PARK BOSS AUXILIARY'S TRIAL POSTPONED DUE TO SICKNESS
An Oyo State High Court has adjourned the trial of a former chairman of the state’s motor parks management system, Mukaila Lamidi, popularly known as Auxiliary, following concerns raised over his health condition.
The court adjourned proceedings after defence counsel informed the court that the defendant was unfit to continue with the trial due to medical reasons and requested additional time for treatment and recovery. The prosecution did not oppose the application.
The presiding judge subsequently granted the request and fixed a new date for the continuation of the trial, directing that the defendant’s health status be properly monitored while in custody.
Auxiliary, a former leader of the Oyo State Park Management System, is standing trial over charges related to alleged criminal activities, the details of which are yet to be concluded before the court.
Security was tightened around the court premises during the sitting, while the defendant was brought in under heavy escort.
The court emphasized the need to balance the administration of justice with the defendant’s right to adequate medical care, noting that proceedings would resume once he is medically certified fit to stand trial.
The case was adjourned to a later date for further hearing.
