ILE-OLUJI YOUTHS EMBARK ON COMMUNITY ROAD REPAIRS - Opima RealNews

Ile-Oluji, Ondo State, Nigeria

Youths in Oke-Alafia, in Ile-Oluji, the headquarters of Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, on Tuesday morning embarked on a community-driven road repair exercise, demonstrating collective responsibility toward local development.

The exercise, which began in the early hours of the day, saw the youths voluntarily come together to fill potholes and repair sections of damaged roads within the community. The initiative was aimed at improving road accessibility and ensuring safer movement for residents.

Eyewitnesses said the youths worked on major streets affected by erosion and wear, using locally sourced materials to temporarily fix the damaged portions of the roads. The effort was carried out peacefully and without external sponsorship.

Community members described the gesture as timely, noting that the poor condition of the roads had posed challenges to motorists, pedestrians, and commercial activities in the area.

A resident of the community said the initiative reflected the youths’ commitment to the welfare of Oke-Alafia, especially in the absence of immediate government intervention.

The voluntary road repair exercise has since drawn commendation from locals, who expressed hope that the effort would attract attention from relevant authorities for more permanent road rehabilitation.
