I’VE NOT PROMISED ANYONE APC TICKET OR SAID I WOULD DENY ANYONE RETURN TICKET — GOV. LUCKY AIYEDATIWA
Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has dismissed claims that he promised the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket to any individual or threatened to deny any aspirant a return ticket ahead of the party’s primaries.
The governor made the clarification during an APC stakeholders’ meeting, where he addressed party leaders and members amid growing political permutations ahead of the forthcoming elections in the state.
According to Aiyedatiwa, he has remained neutral and committed to due process, stressing that the APC’s internal democratic mechanisms will determine who emerges as the party’s flagbearer.
“At no time have I promised anyone the APC ticket, neither have I said I would deny anyone a return ticket,” the governor stated. “The process must be fair, transparent, and in line with the rules of our great party.”
He urged party stakeholders to avoid actions and statements capable of overheating the polity, calling instead for unity, mutual respect, and collective focus on strengthening the APC in Ondo State.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and party cohesion, noting that internal rancour would only weaken the APC’s chances in future elections.
Aiyedatiwa also appealed to aspirants and their supporters to place the interest of the party above personal ambitions, assuring them of a level playing field as the party prepares for its primaries.
The APC in Ondo State has recently witnessed heightened political activities as aspirants intensify consultations ahead of the governorship race, making calls for clarity and unity increasingly important within party ranks.
