APC RELEASES PRICES FOR 2027 EXPRESSION OF INTEREST AND NOMINATION FORMS

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the prices for its Expression of Interest and Nomination forms ahead of the 2027 general elections, as the ruling party prepares for internal primaries across the country.

According to details made available by party sources, aspirants seeking to contest elective offices on the platform of the APC will be required to pay the following amounts:

State House of Assembly: ₦10 million

House of Representatives: ₦30 million

Senate: ₦50 million

Governor: ₦100 million

The development signals the early commencement of political activities within the party, with prospective candidates already positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 polls.

Party insiders explained that the fees cover both the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms, which are mandatory for participation in the party’s primaries. The APC has, in previous election cycles, maintained similar pricing structures, often justifying the costs as part of efforts to streamline the primary process and manage the number of aspirants.

However, the announcement has already generated mixed reactions among Nigerians, particularly on social media, where critics argue that the high cost of nomination forms could discourage young people and grassroots politicians from contesting elective positions. Some political observers have also raised concerns that expensive nomination fees may limit internal party democracy.

Supporters of the pricing structure, on the other hand, contend that political participation requires substantial organisation and resources, adding that parties are private entities with the right to determine their internal processes.

As of the time of filing this report, the APC national leadership is yet to issue a comprehensive public statement outlining the full guidelines, timelines, and concessions—such as possible fee reductions for women, youths, or persons with disabilities—as done in past election cycles.

The release of the nomination fees comes amid growing national conversations on electoral reforms, political inclusion, and the cost of governance in Nigeria.
