RESIDENTS BLOCK AKURE AIRPORT-OWÓ EXPRESS ROAD IN PROTEST OVER KIDNAP INCIDENT IN ILU ABO

Residents of Ilu Abo in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State have staged a protest this morning, blocking the Akure Airport–Owó Express Road following a reported kidnapping incident that occurred in the community yesterday.

The demonstrators, expressing outrage over the security lapse, disrupted vehicular movement along one of the city’s busiest roads, causing traffic congestion and delays for commuters and transport operators.

While details of the kidnapped victim remain sketchy, locals say the protest is aimed at drawing the attention of security agencies and government officials to the rising spate of kidnappings in the area.

Eyewitnesses at the scene reported that residents are demanding immediate action to rescue the kidnapped individual and ensure the safety of the community. Some demonstrators carried placards urging law enforcement authorities to beef up security and prevent further incidents.

Authorities have yet to release an official statement on the protest or the kidnapping report, but security personnel were reportedly deployed to the scene to manage the situation and restore order.

Residents and commuters are advised to exercise caution and avoid the area until the protest is resolved.
