NIGERIA, TÜRKIYE SIGN NINE AGREEMENTS TO STRENGTHEN BILATERAL RELATIONS

Nigeria and Türkiye have further strengthened their diplomatic and strategic partnership with the signing of nine bilateral agreements, following a high-level meeting between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

President Tinubu personally led Nigeria’s delegation to Türkiye, where he held bilateral talks with President Erdoğan and senior Turkish government officials. The engagements culminated in the signing of the agreements, which are aimed at expanding cooperation across critical sectors of mutual interest.

The agreements cover areas including diplomacy, defence and security cooperation, trade and investment, energy, infrastructure development, education, and cultural exchange. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to deepening ties and exploring new opportunities that would benefit citizens of both countries.

Speaking during the meeting, President Tinubu emphasized Nigeria’s readiness to strengthen international partnerships that support economic growth, technological advancement, and national development. He also highlighted the importance of Türkiye as a strategic partner in Nigeria’s foreign policy and economic diplomacy.

President Erdoğan, on his part, welcomed Nigeria’s commitment to stronger bilateral relations and expressed Türkiye’s willingness to expand cooperation, particularly in trade, security, and industrial development.

Nigeria and Türkiye have maintained longstanding diplomatic relations, with growing collaboration in commerce, security, and development initiatives. The signing of the nine agreements marks a significant milestone in the relationship and is expected to further boost bilateral trade, investment flows, and people-to-people relations.

Both countries expressed optimism that the implementation of the agreements would yield tangible outcomes and deepen cooperation in the years ahead.
