AIYEDATIWA VOWS MORAL, INSTITUTIONAL RESET FOR STATE’S NEXT DEVELOPMENT ERA
Ondo State Governor, Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to justice, integrity, and accountable governance, declaring that the state is laying a strong moral and institutional foundation for its next phase of development.
The governor spoke on Friday in Akure during the Ondo State @50 Golden Jubilee Jumat Service held at the Central Mosque as part of activities marking the state’s 50th anniversary.
Governor Aiyedatiwa described the golden jubilee as a moment for reflection and renewal, expressing gratitude to Almighty Allah for guiding the state through five decades of existence. He recalled that Ondo State was created out of a desire to bring governance closer to the people and noted that its founding leaders laid foundations rooted in integrity, resilience, and collective responsibility.
According to the governor, despite periods of challenges, Ondo State has continued to record progress through communal effort, human capital development, and adherence to moral and ethical values. He stressed that faith has remained central to the state’s development, fostering civic responsibility, social cohesion, and service to humanity.
Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasised that leadership is a sacred trust that must be exercised with justice, compassion, and accountability, adding that his administration remains committed to policies and programmes that promote equitable development and the welfare of all citizens.
He also acknowledged the contributions of religious leaders and institutions, describing them as key partners in strengthening governance and nurturing social stability. The governor further commended the resilience of the people of Ondo State and the efforts of past and present leaders whose sacrifices, he said, have shaped the state’s progress over the years.
Looking ahead, Aiyedatiwa outlined his administration’s priorities to include inclusive economic growth across urban and rural areas, youth empowerment, education, skills acquisition, and institutional reforms aimed at transparency and sustainability, while preserving the cultural and religious values that unite the state.
Earlier in his sermon, the Chief Imam of Akure, Sheikh Abdulhaheem Yayi-Akorode Albarka (JP), praised the contributions of successive administrations, noting that the progress recorded over the last 50 years was built on the sacrifices of past leaders. He highlighted the state’s combined years of military and civilian rule, pointing to visible achievements under democratic governance.
The cleric commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for ongoing infrastructural development in Akure and for initiatives supporting education and religious welfare, while also calling for increased inclusiveness and sustained development across the state.
Special prayers were offered for Ondo State, the governor, and Nigeria.
The event was attended by top government officials, including the Deputy Governor, Dr Olayide Adelami, the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, members of the State Executive Council, lawmakers, political appointees, and other dignitaries.
