GOLDEN JUBILEE CELEBRATION KICKS OFF TODAY IN IBADAN


The Golden Jubilee celebration marking 50 years of the creation of Oyo State officially commenced today with a grand opening ceremony held at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, Ibadan.

Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr. Oluseyi Makinde, arrived at the venue amid tight security and a warm reception from government officials, traditional rulers, and invited guests, formally signalling the commencement of activities lined up for the historic anniversary.



Dignitaries present at the event included the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Senator Rasheed Ladoja, the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, members of the State Executive Council, lawmakers, traditional rulers, political leaders, and other notable personalities from within and outside the state.

The Oyo State @50 celebration is expected to feature a series of programmes highlighting the state’s journey over the past five decades, with focus on governance, economic development, cultural heritage, and prospects for future growth.

The Golden Jubilee is also aimed at reflecting on the achievements recorded since the state’s creation, while fostering unity and charting a new course for sustainable development.

Oyo State was created on February 3, 1976, and the anniversary celebration underscores its significant contributions to national development over the years.
