UPDATE: APC NWC, GOVERNORS HOLD CRUCIAL CLOSED-DOOR MEETING
APC NWC, GOVERNORS HOLD CRUCIAL CLOSED-DOOR MEETING IN ABUJA AHEAD OF MARCH NATIONAL CONVENTION
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and governors elected on the platform of the party are currently holding a closed-door meeting in Abuja amid intensified political consultations ahead of the party’s national convention scheduled for March.
The high-level meeting is taking place at the Imo State Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro and is being attended by APC governors led by their Chairman and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, alongside members of the party’s NWC under the leadership of the National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda.
Sources within the ruling party disclosed that the ongoing engagement is focused on preparations for the forthcoming national convention, as well as the implementation of the party’s congress timetable across the country.
Recall that the APC had, last year, unveiled a comprehensive schedule for its 2026 ward, local government, state, and zonal congresses, which are expected to culminate in the national convention.
The meeting is also believed to be addressing issues relating to internal party cohesion, consensus-building, and strategies to ensure a smooth and rancour-free congress process, especially in states with lingering internal disputes.
Political observers view the gathering as a critical step by the ruling party to align key stakeholders and consolidate its internal structures ahead of major political activities that could shape its leadership and direction.
As of the time of filing this report, the meeting is still ongoing, and no official communiqué has been released. Party officials indicated that details of the deliberations and resolutions reached would be made public after the conclusion of the meeting.
