UPDATE: DANGOTE REAFFIRMS ABILITY TO SUPPLY 75 MILLION LITRES OF PETROL DAILY
DANGOTE REAFFIRMS ABILITY TO SUPPLY 75 MILLION LITRES OF PETROL DAILY
The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has reaffirmed its capacity to supply up to 75 million litres of petrol daily, a volume that significantly exceeds Nigeria’s estimated domestic consumption of about 50 million litres per day.
The management of the refinery made the clarification amid ongoing discussions around fuel availability and energy security, stressing that the facility has both the technical capability and production strength to meet local demand while also supporting export needs.
According to the refinery, the 650,000 barrels-per-day facility was designed to eliminate Nigeria’s long-standing dependence on imported refined petroleum products and stabilise supply across the country. The company noted that its production capacity places it in a strong position to support national energy sufficiency once full-scale operations are optimally sustained.
Industry observers note that with a daily petrol output capacity far above domestic requirements, the Dangote Refinery could play a critical role in easing supply pressures, reducing foreign exchange demand for imports, and strengthening price stability in the downstream sector.
The refinery also reiterated its commitment to working with relevant government agencies and stakeholders to ensure efficient distribution, transparency, and alignment with national energy policies.
With the reaffirmation, the Dangote Refinery continues to be seen as a game-changer in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, offering prospects for improved fuel availability, job creation, and enhanced economic resilience.
