UPDATE: ONDO STATE TO HOLD JANUARY SANITATION EXERCISE

ONDO STATE TO HOLD JANUARY SANITATION EXERCISE WITHOUT MOVEMENT RESTRICTION

The Ondo State Government has announced that the January 2026 edition of the monthly environmental sanitation exercise will hold across the state on Saturday, January 31, 2026, without any restriction on human or vehicular movement.

According to the government, the sanitation exercise will take place between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., with residents permitted to move freely during the period.

The Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Tob Loko, Ph.D., explained that the decision to exempt the exercise from the usual restriction of movement was taken in view of the ongoing Ondo State @50 golden jubilee celebrations.

Despite the exemption, residents have been urged to actively participate in the sanitation exercise by clearing drainages, desilting gutters, removing refuse and debris, and cutting overgrown weeds within their immediate environments.

The state government reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a clean, healthy, and disease-free environment, stressing that regular environmental sanitation remains a critical component of public health and urban management.

Residents were further encouraged to continue supporting government efforts by observing proper waste disposal practices and maintaining hygienic surroundings beyond the sanitation hours.
