US-NIGERIA PARTNERSHIP AGAINST TERRORISM PROGRESSES WITH JOINT WORKING GROUP LAUNCH


Abuja, Nigeria — Nigeria’s National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, today welcomed senior officials from the United States in Abuja to advance bilateral cooperation in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism.

The meeting, held at the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), marked the inauguration of a Joint Working Group designed to transition the partnership from planning to concrete joint action on security matters.

NSA Ribadu emphasized the importance of strengthening operational collaboration, intelligence sharing, and coordinated strategies to tackle evolving terrorist threats in Nigeria and the region.

Representatives of the U.S. team highlighted the commitment of their government to supporting Nigeria’s counterterrorism efforts, including capacity building, strategic guidance, and technical assistance.

Officials described the launch of the Joint Working Group as a milestone in the bilateral security partnership, aimed at delivering tangible outcomes that enhance regional stability and protect citizens from extremist threats.
