2027 POLLS: ANTI-TINUBU COALITION “DEAD ON ARRIVAL,” - PCC COMMISSIONER
ANTI-TINUBU COALITION “DEAD ON ARRIVAL,” SAYS PCC COMMISSIONER
A Federal Commissioner with the Public Complaints Commission (PCC), Mr Morakinyo Akinleye, has dismissed any proposed political coalition aimed at preventing President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, describing such efforts as “dead on arrival.”
Akinleye made the remark on Sunday during a grassroots mobilisation rally organised by the socio-political group, Assurance Grassroots Support for Yayi and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, held in Ayetoro, Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Speaking with journalists at the event, the PCC commissioner said the Tinubu administration had taken decisive steps to stabilise the economy and reposition the country for long-term growth, adding that these efforts were already yielding positive results.
According to him, opposition forces planning to challenge the president’s second-term bid would struggle to gain traction due to what he described as growing public confidence in the administration’s economic reforms.
“The opposition against President Tinubu’s second term is dead on arrival. The economy is gradually emerging from a difficult phase, and there are clear signs of recovery. The international community is also recognising the progress being made by this administration,” Akinleye said.
He further stated that while opposition groups may attempt to form alliances, such coalitions would ultimately fail, insisting that the current administration was laying a solid foundation for national development and economic stability.
Akinleye also used the occasion to endorse Senator Solomon Adeola, who represents Ogun West Senatorial District, as a leading contender for the Ogun State governorship in 2027. He described Adeola as a selfless leader with a strong record of public service and grassroots engagement.
According to him, Ogun West has not produced a governor since the creation of the state over five decades ago, a situation he described as concerning. He expressed optimism that sustained grassroots mobilisation could change that narrative ahead of the 2027 elections.
“We believe Ogun West can break this long-standing jinx. Senator Adeola has shown commitment to development and inclusive leadership, and many see him as a credible option for the governorship,” he said.
Also speaking at the rally, the convener of the group, Mr Yinka Alade, said the event was organised to deepen grassroots engagement and mobilise support for both President Tinubu’s re-election bid and Senator Adeola’s gubernatorial ambition.
Alade highlighted Adeola’s legislative interventions in areas such as infrastructure, education, healthcare and empowerment, noting that these initiatives had positively impacted communities across the state.
Other speakers at the event, including Mr Jamiu Ogundele and Mr Adeniyi Oyede, echoed similar sentiments, praising the Tinubu administration’s policy decisions and urging continued public support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
