ATIKU HOLDS STRATEGIC MEETING WITH ADP LEADERS AMID 2027 PRESIDENCY RUMOURS
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar met privately with Action Democratic Party (ADP) National Chairman Yabagi Yusuf Sani and other top party officials at his residence in Abuja on Saturday.
The meeting comes amid growing speculation about potential alliances among opposition figures ahead of the 2027 presidential election. Rumours have suggested that former Governors Peter Obi of Anambra State and Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano State might form a coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) platform.
Observers note that such a coalition, if it materializes, could influence Atiku’s political calculations, as he is also reportedly interested in contesting the presidency, potentially under the ADC banner.
Reacting to the meeting, ADP National Chairman Yabagi Yusuf Sani dismissed claims of any party merger or recruitment drive. He clarified that the discussions were not related to absorbing politicians into the ADP and urged the public not to read undue political motives into the gathering.
The meeting underscores ongoing strategic consultations within opposition parties as Nigeria prepares for a competitive 2027 election season.
