GOVERNOR FUBARA DISSOLVES RIVERS STATE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL
Rivers State, February 12, 2026 – Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara has officially dissolved the Rivers State Executive Council, according to a Government Special Announcement released on Thursday, February 12, 2026. The announcement was signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Onwuka Nzeshi.
The statement directed all Commissioners and Special Advisers to immediately hand over their responsibilities to the Permanent Secretaries or the most senior officers in their respective ministries.
Governor Fubara expressed gratitude to the outgoing council members for their service to the state and wished them success in their future endeavors.
No official reason was provided for the dissolution at the time of reporting.
The move comes just days after President Bola Tinubu facilitated a reconciliation meeting between Governor Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory to address lingering political tensions in Rivers State.
