HON. AKINGBASO COMMISSIONS FIRST EVER FIRE STATION IN IDANRE
Idanre, Ondo State – February 16, 2026
The first ever fire service station in Idanre, initiated by Hon. Festus Olarewaju Akingbaso (Fessywest), Member representing Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency, will be officially commissioned and handed over to the fire personnel on Monday, February 16, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.
A statement from Hon. Akingbaso’s Special Media Aide, Hon. Kelvin Babalola, said the commissioning ceremony is expected to attract prominent dignitaries from the constituency, reflecting the critical role the station will play in safeguarding lives and property. Residents of Idanre have historically faced destructive fire outbreaks, often worsened by delayed responses due to firemen having to travel from distant locations such as Owo, Ondo State.
The most recent major fire incident occurred at Logunro Street, Idanre, prompting visits from Hon. Akingbaso and other notable figures including Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire (Ondo Central Senatorial Zone), Hon. Ade Adetimehin (APC Chairman, Ondo State), and Hon. Barr. Smart Adeuyi Omotadowa, Executive Chairman of Idanre Local Government Area.
Hon. Akingbaso had initially promised to establish a fire service station during his visit to victims of the October 30, 2025 fire disaster in Odode Idanre, a commitment he has now fulfilled. The station, situated on the premises formerly known as Glass House “Ule Alayegbe” opposite MTD, Odode-Idanre, has been fully renovated to meet operational standards.
Community leaders have expressed joy and approval of the development. Hon. Ronke Kone Akinkuowo, a socialite and community leader, described it as a “welcome development that proves Hon. Akingbaso keeps his promises.” Similarly, Pastor Adeuti Ayodeji, popularly known as "Agbaye," said the commissioning will greatly reduce fire-related damages and noted that the late monarch, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Dr. Frederick Adegunle Aroloye, Arubiefin IV, OFR, would have celebrated this achievement.
King Solomon Akinwole, Chairman of the Ondo State Chapter of the South West Farmers Association and a notable cocoa magnate, called the fire station “a developmental infrastructure Idanre people have long clamoured for.”
A reliable source confirmed that decent accommodation for fire personnel has been secured near the station, and that the fire truck and other essential logistics are already in place. Hon. Akingbaso commended Hon. Smart Adeuyi Omotadowa for assisting in securing and renovating the structure, now ready to serve as a fully operational fire station.
