KANO GOVERNMENT TO INSTALL SEVEN TOLL GATES IN SECURITY DRIVE

The Kano State Government has unveiled plans to construct seven toll gates across strategic entry points in the state as part of efforts to strengthen security monitoring and improve infrastructure management.

The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Housing Development, Ibrahim Adamu, in a statement issued by the Director of Public Enlightenment, Adamu Abdullahi. The commissioner disclosed that the project sites had been officially handed over to contractors for commencement of construction.

According to the statement, the toll gates will be located along Daura Road, Katsina Road, Gwarzo Road, Zaria Road, Maiduguri Road, Hadejia Road, and Sa’adatu Rimi Road. The initiative is designed to enhance surveillance and regulate vehicular movement into and out of the state.

The government said the project aligns with its broader strategy to reinforce security infrastructure while also contributing to socio-economic development. Authorities noted that improved monitoring of traffic corridors is expected to support crime prevention and enhance public safety.

The handing-over ceremonies reportedly took place at the various project sites, with officials from relevant ministries and agencies in attendance. Among those present were the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Marwan Ahmed, and the Commissioner for Public Procurement, Dr Nura Ma’aji.

Contractors were urged to adhere strictly to contractual terms and deliver the project within the agreed timeline. The state government emphasised its commitment to ensuring quality execution and compliance with established standards.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has consistently reiterated his administration’s focus on strengthening security and infrastructure development across Kano State.

The development comes amid broader national discussions on measures to improve internal security and safeguard economic activities across key transport routes.
