TCN ANNOUNCES FOUR-DAY POWER OUTAGE IN ONDO REGION FOR GRID MAINTENANCE
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has disclosed a planned preventive maintenance exercise that will affect electricity supply in the Ondo region from Monday, February 2, to Thursday, February 5, 2026. The operation, scheduled daily from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., aims to enhance the reliability and efficiency of electricity transmission in the area.
According to a statement shared on X, the maintenance work at the Ife/Ondo 330/132kV and 132/33kV Transmission Substation will involve replacing outdated single-circuit towers with modern double-circuit towers and decommissioning an old wave trap while installing a new one. These upgrades are part of TCN’s ongoing efforts to modernize the national grid and prevent future power disruptions.
The company warned that bulk electricity supply will be temporarily interrupted, affecting the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC)’s ability to provide power to residents and businesses in Okitipupa, Ondo, and neighboring communities throughout the maintenance period.
TCN expressed regret over the inconvenience to the public but assured that electricity would be restored immediately after the maintenance exercise concludes. The company urged customers to plan accordingly, conserve energy, and report emergencies to local electricity authorities.
This preventive maintenance highlights TCN’s commitment to a more stable, resilient, and efficient power supply, ensuring that residents and businesses in Ondo State can enjoy uninterrupted electricity in the long term.
