CHILDREN OF LATE ITAMPORO OF ILE-OLUJI MARK 90TH POSTHUMOUS BIRTHDAY WITH THANKSGIVING SERVICE

The children of the late Chief John Akinbanjo Daramola (Ajiginijogo), the Itamporo of Ile-Oluji Kingdom, on Monday, February 9, 2026, commemorated his 90th posthumous birthday with a thanksgiving and Holy Communion service held at the John Akinbanjo Daramola Memorial Anglican Church (JADMAC), Bishop’s Court, Ile-Oluji, Ondo State.

The solemn but celebratory event attracted a large gathering of family members, relatives, Anglican faithful, traditional leaders, and well-wishers from across Ondo State and beyond, who came together to honour the legacy of the late community leader, philanthropist, and devout Christian.

Leading the children of the deceased to the thanksgiving service was Otunba Tom Daramola, a renowned businessman, philanthropist, and community builder. The family played host to guests at a well-organised service dedicated to gratitude, remembrance, and prayers in honour of their late father.

Beyond the thanksgiving service, the children of the late Itamporo also marked the occasion with a notable educational support initiative, producing large quantities of 60-leaf exercise books, which were distributed across all public primary schools in Ile-Oluji. The gesture was widely commended by community members as a meaningful contribution to basic education and a reflection of the late Chief Daramola’s commitment to community development and youth empowerment.

The ceremony was graced by prominent dignitaries, including the Jegun of Ile-Oluji and Paramount Ruler of Ile-Oluji Kingdom, His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr) Julius Oluwole Adetimehin, Jimoko II, who attended alongside his wife, Olori Adetokunbo Adetimehin. Also present were the Ile-Oluji Traditional Prime Minister, High Chief Fagbamiye, the Lisa of Ile-Oluji, and other respected chiefs of the kingdom.

Adding to the significance of the occasion was the presence of Bishop Fagbamiye, a retired Anglican Bishop based in the United States of America, alongside several clerics and church leaders.

Delivering the exhortation during the service, the Bishop of Ile-Oluji Diocese, Anglican Communion, The Rt. Rev. Abel Oluyemi Ajibodu, commended the children of the deceased for their thoughtfulness and unity in honouring their father’s memory. He emphasized the importance of appreciating God in all circumstances, noting that a life of service and impact is worthy of thanksgiving.

Bishop Ajibodu also recalled that the John Akinbanjo Daramola Memorial Anglican Church, which served as the venue for the programme, was built and donated to the Anglican Communion by the children of the late Chief John Akinbanjo Daramola, describing the gesture as a lasting legacy of faith, generosity, and commitment to the growth of the church.

The thanksgiving service concluded with prayers for the Daramola family and reflections on the enduring values of leadership, humility, philanthropy, and community service exemplified by the late Chief John Akinbanjo Daramola during his lifetime.
