FAMILY DEMANDS ANSWERS AS LAGOS WOMAN GOES MISSING AFTER HOTEL VISIT IN EPE

The family of a woman who went missing in Lagos State has called on the Nigeria Police Force to provide clarity on the circumstances surrounding her disappearance, months after she reportedly placed a distress call.

According to her younger sister, Virginia Uwakwe, the woman was last seen on October 25, 2025, after informing relatives that she was visiting a male friend in Epe, Lagos.

Uwakwe said her sister initially confirmed that she had arrived safely in Epe. Hours later, she reportedly told a friend she was at a drinking spot in the area. However, in a subsequent call made after 10 p.m., she allegedly stated that she was locked in a room, feared for her safety, and warned that she might be harmed if communication was lost.

Following the report of her disappearance, police investigations commenced. A suspect was later arrested on November 26, 2025.

According to the family, the suspect allegedly gave varying accounts during questioning—initially denying any knowledge of the missing woman, then claiming she had left safely, and later stating that she died in a road accident.

The family has expressed doubts over the accident claim, noting that they were informed that only a severed leg was recovered more than a month after the alleged incident. They also questioned the absence of official accident records from the police or the Federal Road Safety Corps to support the claim.

Uwakwe has urged the authorities to reopen and thoroughly review the case, seeking clarification on what transpired and the whereabouts of the rest of her sister’s remains.

As of the time of filing this report, the Lagos State Police Command has not issued a fresh public statement addressing the family’s concerns.

The case has drawn public attention, with calls for transparency and a comprehensive investigation to determine the full circumstances surrounding the woman’s disappearance.
