FG CALLS FOR APPLICATIONS TO UN HUMANITARIAN LEADERSHIP ROLES
The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has invited qualified professionals to apply for leadership roles within the United Nations Resident Coordinator (RC) and Humanitarian Coordinator (HC) system.
Announcing the initiative on Wednesday, the Ministry’s spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, explained that the programme is aimed at attracting “high-calibre professionals to join leadership roles within the United Nations Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator system.”
According to the statement, the RC/HC Talent Pipeline is designed to identify, train, and prepare individuals for key leadership positions while expanding and diversifying the pool of eligible candidates. The initiative also emphasises gender balance and equitable geographical representation.
Successful applicants will have access to structured opportunities to strengthen their leadership, coordination, and humanitarian skills. However, the Ministry clarified that admission into the Talent Pipeline does not guarantee appointment. Candidates must also apply separately to the United Nations Resident Coordinator Assessment Centre.
The application window for this cycle will close on Thursday, 12 February 2026, at 23:59 hours (EST). While current United Nations staff require formal nominations from their governments, non-UN professionals may apply directly without prior nomination.
The Ministry encouraged members of the public with the requisite experience and commitment to multilateral cooperation, humanitarian action, and sustainable development to apply.
For further information on eligibility requirements, application procedures, and details of the Talent Pipeline, interested individuals can visit the official UN website at unsdg.un.org.
