Reports indicate that scores of residents were killed during the attack carried out by suspected bandits last week, while several others were injured and displaced. Local accounts have described the incident as one of the most severe security breaches in the area in recent times.

In a statement issued on Monday by the Ondo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Idowu Ajanaku, the state government described the attack as painful and disturbing, noting that it underscores the persistent security challenges facing parts of the country.

The statement said the Ondo State Government expressed deep sorrow over the loss of innocent lives and extended heartfelt condolences to the affected families and the wider Kwara State community.

According to the statement, Governor Aiyedatiwa sympathised with Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the people of Woro community, and all families impacted by the attack, assuring them of Ondo State’s solidarity during the difficult period.

The Ondo State Government also offered prayers for the repose of the victims and asked for comfort, strength and healing for bereaved families, while wishing those injured a speedy recovery.
