The Federal Government, state governments, and local government councils have shared a total sum of N1.969 trillion as Federation Account revenue for December 2025, following deliberations at the January meeting of the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC).

This was disclosed in a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting and made available on Monday by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, Mr Bawa Mokwa.

According to the communiqué, the total distributable revenue of N1.969 trillion comprised N1.084 trillion in statutory revenue, N846.507 billion from Value Added Tax (VAT), and N38.110 billion generated from the Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL).

It further stated that the total gross revenue available in December 2025 stood at N2.585 trillion, out of which N104.697 billion was deducted as cost of collection, while N511.585 billion went into transfers, refunds, and savings.

The document revealed that gross statutory revenue of N1.631 trillion was recorded in December 2025, representing a decline of N105.202 billion compared to the N1.736 trillion generated in November 2025.

In contrast, VAT revenue rose significantly, with N913.957 billion recorded in December 2025, an increase of N350.915 billion over the N563.042 billion generated in November.

From the total N1.969 trillion distributed, the Federal Government received N653.500 billion, while state governments shared N706.469 billion. The local government councils received N513.272 billion, while N96.083 billion, representing 13 per cent derivation revenue, was allocated to oil-producing states.

A breakdown of the statutory revenue allocation showed that from the N1.084 trillion, the Federal Government received N520.807 billion, states received N264.160 billion, and local governments received N203.656 billion, in addition to the N96.083 billion derivation fund.

Similarly, from the N846.507 billion VAT pool, the Federal Government received N126.976 billion, states got N423.254 billion, while local governments received N296.277 billion.

The communiqué also disclosed that from the N38.110 billion EMTL revenue, the Federal Government received N5.717 billion, state governments shared N19.055 billion, and local governments received N13.338 billion.

In terms of revenue performance, the FAAC noted that Companies Income Tax, Import Duty, and VAT recorded significant increases during the period. However, Excise Duty, Petroleum Profit Tax, and EMTL declined considerably, while Oil and Gas Royalty as well as CET levies and fees recorded marginal increases.

The allocation comes amid ongoing fiscal pressures on all tiers of government, with states relying heavily on FAAC disbursements to fund infrastructure, security, and social services.
