KWASU Final-Year Student Dies in Malete Auto Crash
Malete, Kwara State — The management of Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, has confirmed the death of a 400-level student, Idris Agboluaje, who lost his life in a fatal auto crash on Wednesday.
In an official statement issued on Thursday, the university said the final-year Business Education student was on his way to the campus to sit for an examination when the accident occurred in Malete.
The institution described the incident as a painful loss, expressing deep condolences to the bereaved family and the university community.
“The management, on behalf of the university community, commiserates with the family and loved ones of the student who died in an unfortunate road accident. We are deeply pained by the loss of a promising young man and pray for strength and comfort for his family, friends and the entire KWASU community,” the statement said.
Preliminary reports indicated that the student had earlier been denied entry into the examination hall due to his inability to present a valid student identity card.
It was gathered that Agboluaje attempted to return to the school gate at high speed in an effort to resolve the issue and catch up with the examination when the fatal accident occurred.
The Association of Business Educators of Nigeria, Kwara State University Chapter, also expressed sorrow over the tragic incident, describing the student’s death as a painful loss to the department.
“Our hearts go out to his parents, family members, friends and classmates during this difficult time,” the association said.
