OKITIPUPA LG CHAIRMAN SIGNS ₦7.1BN 2026 APPROPRIATION BILL INTO LAW
The Chairman of Okitipupa Local Government, Hon. Andrew Ogunsakin, has signed the 2026 Appropriation Bill into law, officially approving a ₦7.1 billion budget aimed at strengthening grassroots development and improving service delivery across the council area.
The budget, titled “Our Ease II,” is designed to consolidate the gains of the previous fiscal year while advancing the administration’s focus on infrastructure renewal, economic empowerment, and people-centred governance.
According to the approved estimates, the total projected revenue for the 2026 fiscal year stands at ₦7,103,493,054.80. Of this amount, ₦4,636,709,350.39 has been allocated to recurrent expenditure, while ₦2,466,750,000.00 is earmarked for capital projects.
Speaking after signing the bill, Ogunsakin described the budget as a strategic framework targeted at easing the socioeconomic burdens of residents, strengthening institutional capacity, and promoting sustainable development within the local government.
He noted that the significant allocation to capital expenditure reflects his administration’s commitment to delivering tangible dividends of democracy, particularly in critical areas such as road rehabilitation, market development, education support, healthcare improvement, and youth and women empowerment programmes.
The council chairman commended members of the Legislative Council, heads of departments, and other stakeholders for their cooperation throughout the budget process, noting that collaboration was key to achieving a timely and comprehensive appropriation framework.
Ogunsakin assured residents that the implementation of the “Our Ease II” budget would be guided by principles of transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness.
He said the 2026 fiscal plan represents a renewed commitment to ensuring that governance is felt at the grassroots level, while laying the foundation for long-term economic stability and opportunity within the local government.
With the signing of the Appropriation Bill, Okitipupa Local Government is set to commence full implementation of the 2026 budget, reinforcing its pledge to improve living standards and deliver sustainable development for residents.
The signing ceremony was attended by the Leader of the Legislative Council, Rt. Hon. Dada Adeleke Akingboye; the Secretary to the Local Government, Barr. Femi Oladokun; the Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Budgeting, Hon. Folorunso Lebifo; the Chief of Staff to the Chairman, Mr. Saka Kadri; and the Clerk of the Legislative Council, Mr. Ajimibi Iyanu.
