POLICE ARREST TWO SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS, RECOVER MOTORCYCLES IN ONDO

The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two suspected kidnappers and the recovery of motorcycles allegedly used in criminal operations within the state.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday in Akure, the Ondo State capital. He said the arrests followed an intelligence-led operation carried out by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit.

According to the statement, the suspects — Abubakar Sindiku, 25, and Oliver Okoh, 35 — were apprehended on February 11, 2026, at Sabo Sango, Ado Road, and Ilado Community respectively, based on credible tracking analysis and technical intelligence.

The police said the arrests were linked to an ongoing investigation into kidnapping activities within the state. Preliminary findings, according to the command, indicate that the suspects are members of a kidnapping syndicate operating in parts of Ondo State.

Investigators alleged that the suspects used motorcycles for reconnaissance missions, gathering information on potential targets, and also provided logistics support, including food supplies and operational materials, to other members of the syndicate.

The motorcycles and other items believed to have been used in facilitating the criminal activities were recovered during the operation. The police added that investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other members of the group.

The Commissioner of Police in the state reassured residents of the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property. He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue to provide timely and credible information to security agencies.

The development comes amid heightened security concerns in parts of the state. Recently, residents of Eleyewo Community in Akure North Local Government Area protested the reported abduction of a couple by armed men. The attackers were also said to have shot another individual during the incident.

In a separate incident within the same local government area, the monarch of Agamo Community, Oba Kehinde Falodun, was reportedly killed by armed assailants, further raising concerns over security in the area.

Security agencies have reiterated their resolve to intensify operations aimed at curbing kidnapping and related crimes across Ondo State.
