POLICE NAB THREE SUSPECTED CULTISTS, SEIZE WEAPONS AND DRUGS IN AKURE RAID
The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of three suspected cult members during a late-night raid in the Arakale area of Akure, Ondo State.
According to a statement issued on February 15, 2026, by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the operation was carried out on February 10 at about 11:00 p.m. by operatives of the Tactical Intelligence Response Squad (TIRS) following credible intelligence on alleged cult-related activities in the area.
The Command stated that the raid targeted a location described as a cultism blackspot. During the operation, three individuals identified as Damilola, also known as “2Gbaski,” 34; Uthman, 29; and Akinwale, were apprehended. Police authorities said the suspects are believed to be members of the Supreme Eiye Confraternity.
Items recovered from the suspects include an axe, a beret cap, a Retevis walkie-talkie, sachets of tramadol, a substance suspected to be marijuana, and an ice bunker. The police said the exhibits were recovered during a search conducted at the scene.
The Command added that the suspects are currently in custody and are assisting with ongoing investigations. Authorities noted that further efforts are underway to identify and apprehend other possible accomplices and recover additional exhibits. The suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to dismantling cult networks and addressing criminal activities across the state. He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing credible information to security agencies.
He also cautioned youths against involvement in cultism, stressing that such activities carry serious legal consequences.
The Command expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, for what it described as strategic leadership and operational support that have strengthened anti-cultism efforts in the state.
