ADEFIRANYE DISTRIBUTES FINANCIAL GRANTS TO 1,000 CONSTITUENTS, SHOWCASES TWO-YEAR LEGISLATIVE SCORECARD IN ONDO
The lawmaker representing Ileoluji/Okeigbo/Odigbo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Festus Ayodele Adefiranye, has distributed financial grants to 1,000 beneficiaries comprising youths, artisans and elderly residents as part of an empowerment initiative aimed at strengthening grassroots economic activities.
The empowerment programme, held in Okeigbo, Ondo State, provided direct financial support to selected constituents to assist them in expanding small businesses and improving their livelihoods. Represented at the event by his Senior Legislative Aide, Engineer Funminiyi Adesoji, the lawmaker stated that the initiative was designed to promote self-reliance, reduce unemployment and stimulate sustainable development within the constituency.
According to him, economic empowerment remains a practical strategy for addressing poverty and supporting inclusive growth at the community level. He urged beneficiaries to utilise the funds responsibly to scale up their enterprises, create employment opportunities and contribute to local economic development.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Hon. Samson Ojetayo, All Progressives Congress (APC) Zonal Chairman in Okeigbo, expressed appreciation for the intervention, describing it as timely and impactful. He assured that recipients would make prudent use of the grants to strengthen their businesses and improve household income.
Highlighting his legislative and constituency achievements over the past two years, Adefiranye outlined several projects facilitated across Ileoluji/Okeigbo and Odigbo local government areas. These include the construction of four kilometres of roads in strategic communities, distribution of vocational tools such as sewing machines, motorcycles, generators and deep freezers to more than 200 beneficiaries, and fertiliser support for farmers.
He also cited support for youth employment opportunities in federal agencies, training programmes for traditional leaders, and the installation of a 500 KVA transformer in Ore to improve electricity supply. Solar-powered boreholes were reportedly installed in multiple communities to enhance access to clean water.
In addition, the lawmaker facilitated pilgrimage opportunities for 100 Christian constituents to Jerusalem and sponsored rural road grading projects across the two local government areas. On legislative matters, he said he moved motions advocating the rehabilitation and dualisation of the Ore–Ondo–Akure federal road and the completion of the Okeigbo power project to stimulate economic growth.
Adefiranye further disclosed that he sponsored a bill seeking the establishment of a Federal College of Nursing and Midwifery in Oke-Igbo to strengthen healthcare training and services in the region. He also listed the construction of classroom blocks in Kajola and Bolorunduro, distribution of school supplies, and facilitation of overseas opportunities for youths as part of his constituency interventions.
The empowerment programme forms part of ongoing efforts by the lawmaker to address socio-economic challenges and expand development initiatives across the federal constituency.
